Test registration opens

You can register your child for the entrance test from this date by visiting https://westmidlandsgrammarschools.co.uk/. You will receive an email acknowledgement immediately after submitting your registration to confirm it has been successful. On the form, specify the schools within the WMGS Partnership with which you wish to share results data.

12^th June 2026

Reasonable adjustments deadline

This is the deadline for requesting reasonable adjustments to allow your child to access the entrance test, for example if they have a disability. Requests and supporting evidence must be uploaded with the registration form and submitted by this date. Contact the Admissions Team at your local test school if you did not download the form during your application.

26^th June 2026, 4:00pm

Test registration deadline

4:00pm is the deadline for registering for the entrance test. It is not possible to register after this time.

Early September 2026

Test information shared with parents and carers

Information about the test and the procedure for the day will be posted to your home address. For pupils testing at Queen Mary’s High School, the letter will include a coloured ID card. The card must be signed on the day and brought to the test centre. If you have not received the information by 7^th September, contact the Admissions Office. Please do not contact the office before 7^th September.

12^th September 2026

Entrance Test

Your child sits the entrance test on this date. It is likely that two sessions will be held, morning and afternoon. Your child will be allocated a session, so keep the whole day free from commitments.

14^th October 2026

Results shared with parents and carers

Entrance test results will be sent before you complete your Local Authority preference form. Please note that the result is not an offer of a school place.

31^st October 2026

Local Authority preference form deadline

You must apply for school places through your local authority by this date. You are advised to wait for the entrance test results before applying for school places.

1^st March 2027

National Offer Day

The first working day of March is the national date on which local authorities notify parents and carers which school their child has been offered.
