Admissions Timeline

Online registration portal opens 
07/05/2024 (9:00am)
Your application will be confirmed at the end of the process, we suggest you print your application at this stage. You will then be sent an email in due course confirming the venue of the test 

Deadline for submitting SEN form (if applicable) 
14/06/2024
This is the deadline for requesting reasonable adjustments to be made to the entrance test to allow your child to access the paper, if for example they have a disability. Requests for adjustments must be submitted by this date along with evidence. Contact the Admissions Team at your local test centre if you did not download this form during your application. 

Online registration portal closes 
28/06/2024 (4:00pm)
4pm is the deadline for registering for the entrance test. It is not possible to register for the test after this time.  

Test Information 
September 2024
You will be sent information about the test and procedure for the day of the test. This will be posted to your home address. If you have not received this by 9 September, contact Admissions – Do not contact us before 9 September.   

Entrance Test 
14/09/2024
Your child sits the entrance test on this date. It is likely that two sessions will be held (AM and PM). Your child will be allocated a session and you should therefore keep the whole of 14 September free. 

Test Results 
18/10/2024
The entrance test results will be sent prior to you completing your Local Authority preference form. 

Deadline for submitting LA preference form 
31/10/2024
You must have applied for school places via your local authority by this date. You are advised to wait for the entrance test results before applying for school places 

National Offer Day 
03/03/2025
1 March or next working day is the national date for local authorities to notify parents which school their child has been offered. 

Date  Event  Description 
7th May 2024  Test registration opens (for Year 7 entry in September 2025)  You can register your child for the entrance test from this date by visiting
https://westmidlandsgrammarschools.co.uk/. You will receive an email acknowledgement immediately after submitting your registration to confirm it has been successful. On this form, you should specify the schools within the WMGS Partnership that you wish to share results data with. 
14th June 2024  Reasonable adjustments deadline  This is the deadline for requesting reasonable adjustments to be made to the entrance test to allow your child to access the paper, if for example they have a disability. Requests for adjustments and supporting evidence must be uploaded with your child’s registration form and submitted by this date, along with evidence. Contact the Admissions Team at your local test school if you did not download this form during your application. 
28th June 2024, 4pm  Test registration deadline  4pm is the deadline for registering for the entrance test. It is not possible to register for the test after this time.    
September 2024  Test information shared with parents and carers  You will be sent information about the test and procedure for the day of the test. This will be posted to your home address. For those students testing at Queen Mary’s High School, this letter will include a coloured ID card – the ID card will need signing on the day of the test and bringing with you to the test centre. If you have not received this by 9th September, contact the Admissions Office. Please do not contact the office before 9th September.

18th October  Results shared with parents and carers  The entrance test results will be sent prior to you completing your Local Authority preference form – Note this is not the offer of a place.    
31st October 2024  Local Authority preference form deadline  You must have applied for school places via your local authority by this date. You are advised to wait for the entrance test results before applying for school places.   
3rd March 2025  National Offer Day  The first working day of March is the national date for local authorities to notify parents and carers which school their child has been offered.
